Celebrating over 35-years of Japanese Art at the Morikami Museum

Join Tom Gregersen, long-time Morikami Museum curator, as he examines objects from the museum's collection acquired over 35-plus years since its establishment and relates interesting facts and stories about each artifact and explains their significance to Japanese history and culture.

Tom Gregersen, served first as assistant curator and later as senior curator and cultural director of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. His involvement with exhibition and collections development over the years has given him an intimate knowledge of the Japanese art and artifacts that the museum holds in the public trust. Tom also actively researches and preserves the history of the Yamato Colony, the pioneering community of Japanese settlers that brought George Morikami to Florida over a hundred years ago.Tom holds a master's degree in Japanese Studies from the University of Michigan, and taught English as a second language in Japan before joining the staff of the Morikami Museum six months after it opened in 1977.
